The second to last class of the day at the British Showjumping National & Academy Championships 2021 was the Pony Discovery Championship Final which took place in Championship Arena 1. The class saw a huge 79 starters come forward, and despite exceptional talent on display, there were just 11 through to the jump off, of which only 3 combinations  achieved a double clear.  In the fastest time, and taking the Pony Discovery title, was 14-year-old Olivia Sponer riding 7-year-old Conella II.

Speaking with the winner, Olivia explained “I’m looking forward to going to HOYS! It’s my birthday next week so this is a great start to the celebrations.” The pair have been competing together for just over a year, and Conella, known as Dinky at home, is going to have a short break after this week.

In an exceptionally close jump off, and just 1 second behind the winning pair’s time of 29.44s, was second place combination Sophia Taylor, and her pony Falcons Poppy.
