Rosie Walker and Grey Lad V were crowned the winners of the Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters this evening in the final class of the day at the British Showjumping National & Academy Championships 2021.  The class, which took place in Championship Arena 1, was hard fought for the top placings. Only 8 out of the 33 starters managed to battle their way to the jump off, of which just 3 achieved a double clear.

The combination, who started their career together in May 2020, took the title of Blue Chip Pony Newcomers Masters with an impressive 34.81s on the clock. Rosie commented: “When we did the first qualifier, I had only ever jumped up to 1.10m, this was my first big competition. I didn’t expect much, so to qualify for HOYS is amazing!” Having travelled all the way from Norfolk, Rosie’s mum went on to share: “No matter what class he is in he will always try his hardest, he loves his job!”

Izabella Annie Rogers and Queen Star took second place, with Charlotte Louise Bevan and Victory Day II in third.
