To kick start day two of the British Showjumping National & Academy Championships, junior rider Ella Kay and pony Kilcreene Apollo take home the win in the Pony Silver League 128cm Final which took place in Championship Arena 2. The course proved challenging with only four riders going clear in the jump-off, but the combination made some impressive inside turns and finished almost 2.5 seconds ahead of second place.

Winning rider Ella was delighted with her success explaining: “I wasn’t expecting him [Kilcreene Apollo] to be so careful, he got so close to some of the fences, but he did so well!”

The combination have only been together for coming up to a year, and Ella’s mum explained she was “over the moon” for the pair. They plan on competing at Aintree next week, shortly followed by a HOYS qualifier later this month.

The Bronze and Silver Pony/Rider Combination League was introduced by British Showjumping in 2014 and allows all pony riders to be able to track their progress on a regional and national league table.
