The Price Family First Ridden & Lead Rein Pony

The first classes of the day got under way in the Sankey Family Arena early with the Price Family First Ridden Class attracting 13 young riders coming forward. The red ribbons went to Staffordshire rider Olivia Bennett on her pony Anndalyse Sugar Plum. Having qualified already, the HOYS ticket was awarded, subject to verification, to second placed Chloe Heathcote on her pony Barkway Moonfairy, or Moony as he is admirably referred to by his 9 year old rider. Chloe has competed at HOYS in several lead rein classes in the past and is now in her first season of First Ridden. She is very much looking forward to her annual October trip to HOYS.

Robert Walker qualified at Stoneleigh Horse Show last year with the 2015 Heavyweight Show Hunter of the Year Champion, Rockefeller. Today it was his three year old daughter Izzy’s turn to be in the ribbons, qualifying in the Price Family Lead-rein class on David Jinks’ Swanlow Lucky May. Izzy had already qualified at Derby Festival on her pony Barkway Magic Moments but sadly for all the family and team at home, the pony passed away suddenly. But all was restored today with smiles all round from young Izzy, her proud parents and brother Sam who is also HOYS bound. Robert remarked and reminisced about the great days of The Royal Show when commenting about this year’s Stoneleigh Horse Show. Robert was impressed with the ground, the ring layout and general atmosphere as well as having the time to watch and enjoy Izzy’s class.
