LEGO Friends M&M Junior Ridden Pony of the Year

Judges Rosemary King and Gail Chapman had a busy morning at Stoneleigh Horse Show on Sunday 14th August with the LEGO Friends M&M Junior Ridden Pony of the Year classes. With a HOYS ticket up for grabs for each mountain and moorland breed, there were many eager turnouts forward to contest the qualifiers.

Taking the M&M Junior Ridden Champion spot was Welsh section A pony Malby Mahyong ridden by 11 year old Kizzie Lucas from Capel Hendre in South Wales. The six year old gelding was bred in Sweden where he already has prize winning progeny before he arrived to the UK as a stallion.  Reggie, as he is called at home, recently won champion novice worker on his first attempt at NPS Area 29 Show.  Kizzie is no stranger to the bright lights of the TopSpec Arena as she has already competed five times at Horse of the Year Show – quite an accolade for such a young age.

The reserve went to Dartmoor pony Treworgan Atlantus ridden by Maria Brown who travelled all the way from Skegness to get her HOYS ticket. A very proud Maria and her mum commented: “They tried so hard all season to qualify, having been disappointed at missing out on qualifying at Lincoln County Show where they were placed joint first but missed out by just one mark.” The class at Stoneleigh Horse Show today was their last opportunity to clinch the precious HOYS ticket.  Maria who is a member of the South Wold Hunt North Pony Club is hugely excited about competing at Horse of the Year Show for the first time in October.
